NX450h+ EV charge vs range
My sister recently picked up her new 2025 NX450h+ Executive. Her first PHEV. She asks this question since she's getting used to things.
I know it has an EV range of 37mi/59km. She's not sure how much distance she's driven in EV mode, but shows me this on her phone app:
She asks if it has 47% charge shouldn't the EV range be longer than 10km? I told her it probably has to hold a reserve charge and can't drain to zilch? Did I guess right?
Here's her shiny new car btw...
Thanks for answering!

The app will never show less than 30%. You're correct, this is a reserve charge at which point the car automatically switches into hybrid mode and the engine will keep the battery at this minimum charge. There are two good reasons to do this.
1) There is an electrical motor that spins the engine to start it, so without a charge then the engine can't start
2) It increases the battery's longevity since batteries lose life when empty, and Toyota prevents this from happening.

Since I bought the car about a month ago, the EV mileage on my 2025 NX450H+ has been going up in Lexus app. It now shows 76KM+ however when I get into driver seat the dashboard EV mileage is now 72KM. Is it a usual behavior of EV battery?

The EV range of 94km depends on my daily driving habit, if I am on 401 and i accelerate/speed then it will use the EV range quickly, so yes, it is the software calculation. When I got the SUV I was getting EV range of 74km but after few months its always between 88km - 94km.
