People can NOT hear me when I make, or answer calls in CarPlay.
When I call someone or someone calls me, they cannot hear me, but I can hear their voice very clearly.
I have a Lexus 250h, 2020. The CarPlay was working fine until I updated my iPhone to IOS 18.
I am using the WIFI hot spot in my car (ATT service). I can make calls and receive calls while using Bluetooth and the caller can hear me. BUT when I plug in the iPhone and start CarPlay the Bluetooth turns off.
All the other features work fine in CarPlay but not Siri or phone calls. When I ask Siri to make a call the cars display panel shows the microphone is off. The CarPlay screen does not show my phone connected.
Is there a switch I can turn on for the microphone? Or a CarPlay update for the car?

I also just posted this on Reddit - under r/Lexus and r/CarPlay yesterday.
I too didn't have this issue until updating my iPhone to iOS 18, this also happened to others I know that own Lexus' on top of my other vehicles too (UX, NX and LC).
Definitely seems to be a Lexus and or iOS18 issue.
I can't say if it's iOS18 across the board, as I have a few friends that own other makes and they can hear/I can hear just fine. But when it comes to ours, no sound.
Bluetooth just like you, works fine. But not for carplay's microphone.
It's strange though because CarPlay still registers my speech to text when responding to messages, literally everything else. Only doesn't seem to hear me on calls.

I found the fix:
1. Go here: https://www.lexus.com/firmware-updates/download
2. Put in your VIN number and extract the download into a USB stick (make sure it's formatted to FAT32).
3. Plug that USB stick into UX while the car is on
4. Go into the menu settings and click Software Update
5. follow on screen instructions.
I tested it after this and it worked, Carplay mic no longer an issue - takes about 10 minutes total.
Dealership wanted $250 just to update this, lol. Funny guys.

Bluetooth will disconnect when using CarPlay. That's normal. It can't do both at the same time.
Have you tried the simplest thing and rebooted your phone? iPhones have strange issues when not rebooted often. I usually recommend every few days just as a precaution. Just turn if off then back on.
