Technically, the GS was to be sold March 1st but clearly, sales started in Feburary as GS sales went up 1600% or some silly number

DAMN...more than 3,000 GS's sold!!!! Thats damn good. I guess they might sell more than the projected 33,000 a year. That is awsome.
The Avalon is also selling well too. Ive seen 1 on the road so far and it was a Black XLS model with a spoiler. Its a classy car in black with all the chrome trimings.

As we all know, there are lots of ways toi move numbers and catagories around to make the figures look better, or worse for that matter, than they actually are. 203,223 vehicles for the month is a pretty staggering number. Enjoy your recalls Mercedes.
Reference this report that states Toyota up, but Lexus in a small decline. I grabbed this from CBS Marketwatch(Dow Jones):
Toyota Motor March U.S. sales up 12.3% (TM) By Shawn Langlois
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Toyota Motor (TM) on Friday reported a 12.3% increase in March U.S. sales to a record 203,223 vehicles. Toyota brand sales surged 14.7% while the luxury Lexus division posted a 1.9% decline. Toyota passenger cars surged 24.7% while light truck sales turned nominally lower.

March 2005 sales in the Luxury Sports Sedan class
March 2005 sales in the Luxury Sports Sedan class
5 = 3,949
E = 3,608
GS = 3,209
STS = 2,954
M = 2,253
A6 = 1,681
RL = 1,376
Not surprisingly, the biggest winners were the GS and the M.
The E was the biggest loser, whose sales went down 27.4% from March 2004 (4,971 units). However, part of the reason for this may be because of cannibalization by the CLS, which sold 1759 units.
Overall brand (March 2005 vs. March 2004):
BMW = -11.0%
MB = +1.9%
Lexus = -1.9%
Cadillac = +0.1%
Infiniti = +5.3%
Audi = -12.9%
Acura = +3.6%
