How wide a tire can the stock 20" OEM rims allow without rub?
I have a 2016 LExus RX350 F Sport. I want to change my tires to wider tires keeping the same OEM rims. I want to put the 265/50 R20 on the stock OEM rims. Will this cause a rub?
Had 265/50R20 XL (111V) Pirelli Scorpion Verde installed today. No rub, smooth ride. Used F Sport OEM 20" rims. the tire fits perfectly and leaves 15mm of space between the inner tire edge and the suspension spring.

You cannot use any width, or you will have rubbing take place. 265mm is the widest I would put because 275mm will cause you to have no clearance when you turn. This will result is scuffing and potentially a dangerous condition. The wider tires look nicer, especially on the FSport trim, or even if you have the regular trim. It results in a softer ride as the weight is distributed on a larger surface, though I couldn't really tell the difference. The Pirelli Scorpion Versé are far superior that the OEM Bridgestones they come with.
The speedometer is however affected as the tire revolutions will change. Recall C=2*3.1415*R. So the bigger the total C resulting from the tire ratio of width, the faster you are traveling. Your car speedometer is calibrated for the OEM size so just know the impact. My size hardly makes a difference on the freeway 3-4 mi underestimating at 70 mph.

What tire pressure did you set your new tires at? I’m scheduled for tire installation next week. I went with the Michelin Premier LTX 255/50/20XL 109V. They are a bit narrower than your tires but I would like to get an idea how much pressure to set them at. Thanks!
Thanks for doing the legwork. I’m glad 265/50/20 tires work. I’ll be putting on the Michelin Defender LTX in the same size for my f-sport once the premier’s are done.

I was finally able to do this. Got them from Costco on sale for $842 all in. Didn't want to waste the OEM tires so I used them for over 21,000 miles (around 3 years). Now that I have the wider tires, I regret not getting them sooner. I feel that these should be the tires that Lexus ships the 4th generation RX F Sport with. I know it's all about fuel economy and I'll probably take a slight hit on that but the difference in handling is really significant. The RX feels much more planted on the road with these tires on. I was smiling on my way home.
