Default 2011 LS460l

Posted this over in the LS430 forum as well but I wanted to post it here as well to get some input from other LS460 owners. Has this happened to any other 2010-2012 owners? ..........Just thought I would post an interesting observation.... I have had my 2011 LS460L for about 2.5 years now. When I was researching I tried to avoid the things that the 2007-2009 cars had a reputation on the forum for such as the control arm issues, brake actuator issues, and melting door panels. This may be my car but today marks the day that all three things have now happened to my car. I had the door panels and dash replaced about 9 months ago, all control arms replaced a little more than a year ago and today I need a new brake actuator. Luckily I have a lexus warranty so it has been all free but I just thought it was interesting. I think these issues may not have been only unique to the 2007-2009 models but in fact what has happened is that the 2011 has now arrived at the age these things started happening in the earlier models. Unless my car is unique, to anyone shopping for an LS460 and trying to avoid the 2007-2009 models for these reasons, buying a later model 2010-2012 may not help you avoid these issues. It didn't work for me.

Currently just crossed 80,000. Control arms were done at 60,000 miles, dash and door panels replaced at 71,000 miles.

I have a 2011 as well and like you I bought a 2011 in an effort to avoid the common issues. I have not had the melting door panels or control arm issues. The brake actuator issue was fixed before I purchased the car in April. I have 99K on the odometer.

It could just be my car, I would have to survey more LS460 owners from the 10-12 generation. I wasn't even aware of these issues on this generation I guess they just weren't old enough yet at the time I got mine.

I wouldn't worry about it, thats why you got the extended warranty...

Seems reasonably good for a dealer car. Is it a Lexus dealer or independent? I wouldn't be too scared off by the miles if it's been serviced well, and it might have all the "problematic" issues already sorted through (control arms, brake actuator, etc.).

Its is an independent dealer.Serviced from lexus since day one per carfax.Water pump replaced.Over 50 sercvce records that match up.Was just a little concerned with the miles but after all it is a Lexus.#Tough

Just my experience:

I bought my 2010 in August 2016 with 57k, with warranty from Lexus.

In October, took it in a bit early for 60k service. Thought there was some issues with suspension, but Park Place said no, so thought I was good. Still heard bumps and some other strange noises but, hey, Lexus said it was good. Took it back in July of 2017 and low and behold it needed front control arms and both rear air suspension shocks. Quoted 10k to fix it, told them to contact Lexus as it was under warranty. Lexus approved and all work done at over 9 k Lexus price

presently, after using Carista, I have codes CO200 and CO 205. Something to do with some sensor. Car going in on Thursday for oil change, checking ML amp, so will have them check these codes as well. Still have warranty.

So so we will see. Have 72k on car now.

I wonder if the 2013+ year models will start having the same control arm and brake actuator issues once they starting getting more mileage and age.

My 2011, like the one you're looking at, my car had a perfect Carfax, and it had All of the Lexus recommended services. My car had 133K. It was a one owner car. I bought it from a dealer in a small town in mid-Ohio. I paid $13,500 out the door.

Your location plays a part in pricing.

I also have a 2011 LS460. It currently has 134K miles on the clock. This car has had Every Lexus recommended service, including the one at 130K where they replaced the front rotors and pads. My cat had had the control arms replaced,, new door and dash installed. So far, end brake actuator hasn't acted up.

Thankfully, All of this work was done by Lexus at the request of the Previous Owner. A recent computer scan shows Zero trouble codes.
