Default Driver's Side Door Handle Not Popping Out

So I just returned from a week and a half trip, and noticed that when I unlocked my doors, the driver's side door handle isn't popping out. The passenger side pops out when unlocking (pressing button for second time on the fob), but the driver's side doesn't in any way. Wondering if anyone else here experienced this issue, and if so, was it a long or hard fix (at the dealer)?

Thanks....

Just an update - the guys at Lexus of Orlando were great in getting this issue resolved! It was just a one off malfunction of the actuator on the driver's side door handle. They had to order a new part - which is basically one entire piece (includes the door handle and the motorized actuator). Single digit availability in all of North America! Replaced and now back to working like a charm!

Isn't that the point? One extra complication, one extra possibility for failure.

Seems like this is one of the only times its been posted on the LC forum. 1 out of how many LC owners posting here?

Too many points of failure and none of them serviced individually. Only replaced as one unit. This is going to be a long term problem some years down the road when parts dry up.

Just a follow up, same outcome as OP. Fortunately, Lexus is covering the door handle actuator under the CPO Warranty, so thats good.

I wonder how much out of pocket this costs. It'll likely happen to all our cars sooner or later

If this is the part, it's at least $1,000 plus whatever labor that would go along with it. Thats the current sale price from this website. MSRP states it as $1,653.31.

Yes I know the LC is full of tech but that's the same tech that creates these problems. I really fail to understand why tech of not so many years ago can plod on and on, but newer tech now seems to fail far more frequently.

Update: The dealer first thought the actuator was fine due to the movement you can see in my video. They thought the handle was pulled too hard and something else was wrong. 2hrs. 45min. later I drove off with a new actuator/handle ordered. I asked for the part number and this is it on my dealers site. The last 2 characters determine the color, not sure why it is called Radiant Red and not Infrared? I searched and that is the only red shown.

The LC door handle has been a concern of mine since the first time I used it. I just don't have any confidence in the durability so I only use it to get the door open enough to grab the inside to fully open the door. Broken door handles are not uncommon on the GX460 and I have replaced one on mine so I might be a little paranoid now.

It sticks out so people can see the Lexus logo lolz. It will look terrible if we can not close it.

The colour naming is market-dependent. In my country (which follows Japan), what America calls infrared is called Radiant Red Contrast Layering. It's still the same colour/paint code so nothing to worry about there
