Default Door Auto Lock unavailable on all 4GS's?

I couldn't find the door Auto Lock feature on my car, so I took it to the dealer and they also said it doesn't exist, which is frustratingly baffling as every other Lexus product I've had as well as every other car I've had since the 90's has it.

Is it just an Australian GS thing or are the US vehicles also this way?
If so, why do you think this is the case?

My courtesy car was a new is which also has the feature.

Bizzare.

Do you mean auto lock when you put the car in gear?

I'm pretty sure my car auto locks when the key is not in range or I walk away from it with all the doors closed. Will have to test this out later.

The car only auto locks when u unlock it but do not open any door. If u open a door and walk away, it will not auto lock but if u have an active Enform app, it will just remind u and u can lock it from the app if ur car key is out of range.

Correct. If you unlock the vehicle, but do not open any doors, it should auto-lock in 30 seconds. If you open any doors, it will not auto-lock.

If so, he can change the personalized Settings for that himself.

Automatic Door Lock
The automatic door locks can be programmed for the following:
  • The doors automatically lock when the vehicle is taken out of park and placed into another range. (Standard) = By shift from P
  • The doors automatically lock when the vehicle speed is 12 mph or higher. = By speed
  • The doors, if unlocked, will not automatically lock. = Off

Unfortunately the dealer is correct. Only auto unlock features are available.

Yes this is normal for Australian GS. As for why....I'm not sure. Carjacking isn't really a thing here so maybe they didn't think it was unnecessary. Maybe they just forgot? The 4GS is missing a few features lile that.

Unfortunately they don't exist, in the vehicle menu or on the laptop

It's the Toyota software to communicate and program the car. You do need a piece of hardware (the OBD2 cable) that is compatible.

Granted, I thought I heard somewhere it was being replaced by something else that would be harder to pirate.

This right here and I thought all GS's had this feature. I have mine set up that when I put the car in reverse the doors will auto lock. When I place it in park and open MY door, then all doors will unlock.

My mother's cousin in Paris France says it has something to do with European versions not being available with auto-lock for some unknown reason.
