Default Wheel arch moulding replacement

Hello, just wondering if anyone has attempted a wheel arch moulding replacement. I'm getting a NX 350 Premium soon and I would like to replace the black plastic wheel arch mouldings for the body color matched F Sport ones. If no one has done it, I may be the guinea pig and attempt it when I get my vehicle.

Someone did the conversion, but I don’t remember the thread or user that posted it. It’s been done at least once though. Hopefully that poster replies in here.

This one, but he only did the bumper and window trim, not the wheel arches.

I randomly came across this youtube video in Chinese. I timestamped it to the part where they take off the wheel well liner as well as the plastic wheel arch moulding. It is eventually replaced by the F Sport version and it looks to just snap into place as a 1:1 replacement. I don't understand what they're saying but just from the looks of it, it can be done. I'm not sure if we'll need to take out the whole wheel well liner but it shouldn't be too hard.

I've gathered all of the part numbers. There are 6 pieces total. The front mouldings are one piece. The rear mouldings are in two pieces. One goes on the door and the other goes on the rear fender. The only difference in the part numbers is the color code at the end.
If you're wondering what left and right mean, it's when you're sitting in the driver's seat facing forward. Left is for the pieces to your left. Right is for the pieces on your right.

In terms of where to buy, the biggest discount online that I saw was Lexus of Orland (Illinois) and Lexus of Orange County (New York). Both have 28% off and free shipping with code SHIPLEXUS. Prestige Lexus (New Jersey) also has 28% off but no free shipping. I'd also give your local parts departments a call to see if they can beat the price. For me, the total is just under $750.

Skell, thank you for providing this. I have an Eminent White Pearl, so when I searched for the parts, the color was listed as Sonic Quartz. Would there be a difference in color?

Different markets have different names for the exact same paint color. The names you see on the part description are the names in the Japanese domestic market. You can verify each color with the link below. Just use Google translate to translate the page.

Would it be easier to paint the black, to the color of choice, or is the texture of the plastic different?

I think the F-sport color matched would be dope on the 350h... but ouch... $735 + tax + shipping from Lexus Parts Now for the whole set.

Be very careful. I have the Eminent White Pearl also. I had the Lexus dealer order the NX body side moulding. It came in as Sonic Quartz. To a casual look, it seemed the same. But I had the parts guy recheck after he agreed it was not a match and he reordered to get the correct matching color.

Probably similar for the wheel moulding.

What was the part number for Sonic Quartz vs Eminent White Pearl?

I also checked carid and they have the US color names listed for the same parts.

I will post pics for my "Sonic Titanium/Atomic Silver" mouldings when they arrive.

It is confusing. Lexus uses both color code 85 for the Sonic Quartz and Eminent White color- at least on there body side moudling. I bought local, since I did not feel comfortable ordering a painted part that did not match any color option on the configurator or brochure. And getting into a return hazzle and possible restocking/shipping cost.

So when the first color came in the package description dd say Sonic Quart as I recall. The parts guy said they were probably the same color. And under the parts center lights, it did look similar. But when we went out into the full sun, we both agreed it did not quite match. Lexus reordered it ,and as I recall, this time the paint description was EW and it did match on the car perfectly.

It is possible, the first sample was just not paint mix/matched as well as the second, since paint matching is sometimes off. Not sure why Lexus marketing would come up with two weird names for the same pearl while color. LOL

Is your NX made in Japan or Canada?

https://parts.lexus.com/a/Lexus_2022...7420-7503.html
I've noticed when you look through the parts catalog on the Lexus website, the color matched wheel arch moldings are only available if you select the F Sport with J VIN number.

https://parts.lexus.com/a/Lexus_2022...E420-7503.html
Looking at the Canadian built F Sport side mouldings, you won't find a single color matched part. The corresponding parts just say paint required.

I am picking up my Canadian built NX350 Atomic Silver later today and my wheel arch mouldings are arriving today as well. I will post pictures so we can see how well they match.

Got the car and wheel arch mouldings last night. The mouldings are all made in Japan and were shipped from the Toyota North America Parts Center in Ontario California via Lexus of Orange County (NY).

The Sonic Titanium mouldings are a perfect match with my Canada built Atomic Silver NX. It's obviously difficult to capture in photos but I think I got one spot where the light is hitting it the same in the middle of the picture.

I think the most difficult part will be the small part that goes on the rear door. There are no obvious places where I can remove retaining clips on the door. And it looks like I might need to unclip at least the edge of the lower body rocker panel in order to slide the tab in and fasten it.

And don't mind the tire polish that slung off onto the plastic
