Did you try Waze through carplay?

No, but I will do that. Car is clean and it’s now raining. So I’ll be taking our other car today. But will try WAZE in a day or two. Since WAZE is owned by Google, I doubt it will do the turn by turn (because GoogleMaps fails to do so).

I traveled one place today. Short distance. Both Apple Maps and google maps directions made no sense. The only one that made sense was the built in Nav on my Merc. Both Apple and google took a scenic route. Only car navigation took the straight route.Traffic wasn’t an issue.

I "double confirmed" that GoogleMaps won't show turn by turn in the HUD, but AppleMaps does.

I tried the nav subscription for one month, to see how it compared to google maps, Waze and apple maps, and I can confirm, the details of a route do show up in the HUD. But that wasn't enough to keep me paying the stupid monthly fee I've settled for Waze in town and Apple Maps for longer road trips.

You don't get 3 years free subscription in Canada?

Not for the navigation. You get 3 years of Safety Connect and Remote Connect, plus 10 years of "having someone answer when you press the SOS button". But nav is part of a different package called Drive Connect, which is about $20 canadian per month. I didn't feel it was worth that much at all.
