With the recent price cut from Tesla and Ford Mustang Mach E, i'm shock that numerous Toyota dealers in socal region are still charging markups ($2k - 7k) on their hybrid models from Corolla hybrid all they way to Sienna. A dual motor Tesla model Y even before the $7500 tax break and $2000 CA EV rebate is about the same price as a Rav4 Prime. Are people still buying Toyota hybrids nowadays?

I heard that Toyota Hybrids still have long waiting lists prior to delivery - hence both manufacturer and the dealers in particular - are still cashing in.

Supply and demand. Demand is still there but supply isn't remotely close to meeting it. Got about two years of a backlog (demand) to clear out before things balance out.

i guess the better question should be why aren't those people on waiting list go elsewhere? much better car market for buyers and lots of better choices today compare to 1-2 years ago.

Despite falling short on EVs, Toyota still makes a damn good hybrid. After my Rivian comes in, we're probably going to replace the Ody with a Prius or Venza since big car duties will be taken care of. I don't trust EA for roadtrips and I don't find the 3 seats comfortable after 3-4 hours of driving

The "better" question? Your real question isn't a question at all, but a statement: "I don't like Toyota hybrids, so there shouldn't be overwhelming consumer demand for them." I don't know if all the millions of consumers who find Toyota hybrids suitable for their needs are supposed to be ashamed, or what.

If you were actually seeking information rather than simply trying to assert your own intellectual superiority over the rest of us, your question would have been, "Wow, even after big price cuts on competing EVs, a lot of people really want Toyota hybrids. I wonder what's the reason for that?"

I just stopped by a dealer last week to look at rav4 hybrids and venza's and no markups there - but everything was MSRP and still very hard to locate inventory. They have 3 venzas and no rav4 hybrids on the lot.

Toyota sells every Sienna they make. They can’t make enough of them. That said, no other brand offers a hybrid only model with awd in all available trim levels. I remember there was so much criticism on the direction Toyota took with the Sienna..looks like Toyota made the right decision

Wouldn't it be awesome if Toyota made a hybrid GX 460 or LX 570? I really want one of those if not for the horrible gas mileage.

Not really. Toyota V8s are special. Even better with full time 4WD
