I would like to become a moderator. How can I become one?

The moderator team and I build a list of candidates based on many criteria. In addition to being very active on the forums, the key items are:

1) Helpful to other Club Lexus members
2) Mature and and respectful ; handles conflict well
3) Works within (or demonstrates knowledge of) our forum rules
4) Knowledgeable of subject area
5) Effective communicators

We don't typically accept self-nominations (for a number of reasons it can often be a negative), but I do keep a list of folks that ask to be considered.

We do moderator nominations and retirements every 6 - 12 months.

Sorry if my post above wasn't clear enough, the moderator team nominates the candidates. We look at most all of the posts in all the forums every day and have a pretty good idea of who is helping others out. Additionally members don't have visibility into many of the issues and conflicts that occur (or recur) as those posts are often removed from the forum.

The nomination cycles are scheduled as needed and are not publicly announced. A general guideline for the cycle is every year, but sometimes we do it within six months or sooner.
