as you can see, i registered in 2001 and was able to type in my own location.

i was going to change my sig and update the avatar last year, but was worried about losing my location setting as it obviously is now fed from a drop-list. can i change my avatar/sig and still keep my current custom location? i'm hoping its not all-or-nothing

Above will take you directly to the avatar so you can edit it.

I'm less sure about the signature. My thought is go in, add your new signature, don't touch your location and if it says 'you must change the location' then simply cancel without saving.

thanks for the avatar link, as i did not find it. at least that will change.

but i'm thinking the signature won't work, as the drop-down list defaults to alabama and that is what i'll get if i don't change it. thanks again
