I freaked out last night (well not really), but since last night until just 1 minute ago, none of the threads would load!

Every time I clicked in a thread, it would load up a blank page in Firefox, and 'page cannot be found' in IE!

I couldn't even post in any threads, including the troubleshooting ones!

Fortunately right now, all of a sudden, the threads are loading. Whew!

Thanks for everyone's patience. As soon as a problem pops up we're reporting it to our tech guys. Know there have been several on/off forum issues after the work done this weekend with replies, pulling up threads and forum downtime.

In addition to the intermittent tech issues, we're still working on many of the items listed in this thread. Hopefully when its up and running normally the performace is faster (it is for me).

The issues with attachments was fixed on Saturday night. Are you talking about the gallery perhaps?

Edit -gallery uploads are working too, but they don't seem to update the last loaded thumbnail. Look in your gallery

How big is the picture you are uploading? Try making it smaller.

The jpeg picture I'm trying to upload is 3,125KB. I'll try making it smaller and see if that works.

I made the picture smaller but I have no luck. Is there something that I'm doing incorrectly on my side? I'm uploading just like I've done in the past. I didn't add and keywords or descriptions other than that is there a new procedure?

Not that I used, but I did fill in descriptions in my test.

Will report it to the tech guys, in the interim you can just attach the image after you resize.

Search is not working. Wanted to show someone the new BMW X5 - searching on BMW, X5 or BMW X5 all returned no results.

The search has always been far from perfect & it depends on the key words you type in.
BMW X5 won't work for some reason, but if you type in BMW 335i or Aston Martin DBS, some threads do come up & I can find what I wanted . . .

I guess it's back to the old days when keywords of less than 3 letters are not acceptable, even if they make sense. If possible, can the sys admins open up some shorter keywords again? Being able to search for keywords such as M3, M5, X5, LF-A (which counts as two words, one two-letter word and one one-letter word), etc. would be very useful for us.

Not sure it's exactly the less than 3 letters limit since, if you type in say, Audi A8, at least some threads do come up with Audi mentioned, but not specifically the A8 - not too helpful, but you may be able to find a thread about the A8 if it's more recent.
But if you type in BMW X5, it says no match found.

Doug,

Search is working fine, the forum has always worked that way. Our CL search is limited to items of three characters or greater except for those that I specify to be added to the index. I've added several general Lexus model terms (LS ES RX GS GS4 GS3) for example. I've not seen a compelling reason to take the time to add 'BMW' or other small model names (ex. x5, M3) to slow down our Lexus forum (as I expect bimmerforums hasn't added Lexus terms).

This is done to improve our forum performance by dramatically reducing the size of our search index. Smaller words take longer to search for as they are more common.
