Default racial slurs and word sensoring.

I dont know if people are just uneducated or what but the word "Jap" is extremely offensive to me. I'm a mod on on my local board and we have word sensoring on; is there such a feature on clublexus? If so, please add the word "jap" and other racial slurs.

tia.

No.

You want JAPanese censored?

You're going to have to learn to live with it, ignore it, or otherwise.

I don't know how things are done here but I'll hope for a slight (just a suggestive democracy) so to make my voice heard, I'm going to vote no against the originals poster want.

The reasons as follows
a) I don't want to read ***anese, it's very annoying to read ****pit when c0ckpit is what it should say.
b) I understand and slightly symphatize with you on the race issue, but at the same we must understand that we're on the internet where cartesian logic can't be used. Populated with fringe-thinkers, maniacs with agendas, highschool kids, and everyone in between it's hard to do anything without at least offending someone.

I'm with O.L.T. If we do that, we'll have to change American to ***rican,
British to ***tish, German to ***man, and a hundered-plus other nationalities as well. It would be ridiculous.

I don't use the term. If Jap is referring to Japanese, then I say Japanese. If Jap is referring to something else, then it is not worth referring to.

Coco-bun:

I do understand your concern, but as others have posted censoring part of a word (expecially one that is so widely used here on a forum focused primarily on a Japanese car brand) can be problematic.

I'd ask that if you see the term used in an derogatory manner to please use the 'report a post' feature and a moderator will look into it short order.

I hardly see or hear that term being used anywhere but maybe that's just here.

thanks for the input everyone.

And that sir is a sweeping statement that is absolutely not correct. You just insulted many of our 65,000+ members, perhaps I should censor the word 'everyone' to keep that from happening again

Seriously though, I understand your concern but you need to help by focusing on the few who abuse the term and use it in a derogatory manner rather than pointing the finger at the entire forum membership please.

Educating those who use the term is also a viable solution.

I have posted many times to people that mention a J** car. I politely tell them that the term they chose is offensive.

So is it safe to say that Japanese Cars are more reliable than American Cars?

That can be said b/c there is actual data to prove or back up that statement.

To say "everyone here" ( on Clublexus) is a sweeping, general statement as there has been on poll or data to prove or disprove that.

We can assume the majority of us own/like Lexus and thats about it.
