Once in a while when I hop on the forum I get the little internet security banner. It asks me if I want to continue with the downloand i think its called the active x banner. Any who, am I supposed to download this? Is it forum related? I have kept on denying it so far.

I've never been prompted to download anything but have seen the banner pop up when I upgrade browser, etc. The only thing we should really place on your PC is ''normal' IE cookies. Some of the more recent ads use Adobe flash.


Are there any particular advertisements up when you see it? We had a member report that one of the ads was setting off his antivirus a couple of weeks ago.

For now I'd deny downloading it and also suggest runing a virus / spyware / adware sweep on your PC

I use CA anti virus. It scans for spyware daily and for viruses once a week. I will pay attention more to the add's and try to give you more information if it happens some more.

ditch it and use a combination of Spybot: S&D and AVGFree Antivirus. you will get better results.

prolly flash from one of the sites trying to download a cookie or minor update or some crap

Spybot+AVG+Firefox w/Adblock+ and you're set for life.
