Exclamation Charlotte NC Area Lexus Detailing Clinic with Zaino Products - Sat February 21, 2004

This is a new post for the (rescheduled) detailing event since our January session was deferred because of the icy weather forecast.

I've made contact with the local Zaino distributor here in Charlotte and he's offered to host a full-on detailing clinic for us... something I would personally find interesting and I think many of you will as well. He has done this for the S2000 club guys in our area with great success.

The venue he's used in the past has been the facilities of Import Paint and Body Shop on Independence Blvd. Loren Koski, the owner, likes the Zaino product and it gives him an opportunity to introduce people to his business. None of us wants to have to take our cars to a body shop, but it's good to know where a person can get the highest quality repairs made should that become necessary. These are "rain or shine" events, so we need to have a place where we can do the entire event indoors if need be. He can accommodate about 12 cars indoors at Import Paint.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What: Detailing Clinic featuring Zaino Bros' Show Car Polish Products
When: Saturday February 21, 2004. 9:00 AM until approximately 3:00 PM. Rain or Shine!
Where: Import Paint and Body Shop
6173 E. Indendence Blvd.
Charlotte, NC

Each participant will be able to learn how to use clay bar on their own car and apply up to 3 coats of the Zaino polishes. There is no fee to attend, but participants will be able to purchase products for their use on the day of the event. In addition to Zaino products, www.zainostore.com, participants will also be able to purchase DF Concours towels, www.dftowel.com. If anyone would like to use their DF Towel on that day, our meet sponsor (Steve) can prewash them and have them ready for use. Interested parties for the DF Towels should contact him directly at: cashine@juno.com or 704.759.0142.

Steve will also do a brief product demostration / description on leather care products during the session, but we won't plan time to do the interior of the cars.

You will need the following :
Enough towels to dry the car one time
One towel for use while claying
One towel for removing polish
One towel for use with Z-6
The best towels to use are either the DF Concours Towel or a white 100% cotton U.S. made towel. Towels should be washed before use if they are new.

A clean 12oz or greater capacity spray bottle to mix clay bar lubricant in.

Lunch will be provided for participants, so a reasonably firm head count is needed. Remember that this is a rain or shine event.

Entrance to the body shop will be through the doors at the rear of the building.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I asked Steve about the products he'll have for sale. I plan to buy some of his larger concours drying towels as well (I have plenty of smaller microfiber from Pakshak and Turtle, but need a couple large ones).

Prices for the products are the same as you will find at www.zainostore.com A basic kit with clay bar is:

Z-2 Polish $12.95
Z-6 Gloss Enhancer 9.95
Z-7 Car Wash 7.95
Z-18 Clay Bar 16.95
ZFX Flash Cure 19.95
Total $67.75 + NC Sales Tax

For a black car with no clearcoat, he recommends substitute Z-5 for Z-2 and add $4.00 to the total above. Some may want to get both Z-2 and Z-5 making the total $84.70.

It will be very beneficial for folks to visit the Zaino web site and read about the individual products as well as the application tips and tricks. There is a lot of information there (also check out our detailing forum here for some recent posts on tricks/tips).

I'm going to buy the full suite of stuff and you guys that aren't sure about getting the whole shooting match are welcome to share some of mine.

Now we need a roll call / count of folks that are going to come... The week before the event we'll need to give Steve a count of those attending so he can order lunch for us.

Atlanta crew (1sicklex, Bit, amy) won't be able to make this one due to a conflict with a dyno day in ATL.

OK guys, we'll need to know by mid-this-week if we can call you 'confirmed' for the event please.

Got to make sure we have enough interest to make the meet (at this date/time) worthwhile!

Post up if you can make it please.

Excellent. Left you a message on your cell - if you guys want to come up Friday night that'll work too. Won't have quite as early a morning that way.

Looking like perfect weather in the 60's guys!

There is no need to wash your car before the meet, we'll do it at the beginning to ensure a perfectly clean surface before we claybar the cars.

Please do not forget to bring the following :
Enough towels to dry the car one time
One towel for use while claying
One towel for removing polish
One towel for use with Z-6
The best towels to use are either the DF Concours Towel or a white 100% cotton U.S. made towel. Towels should be washed before use if they are new.

A clean 12oz or greater capacity spray bottle to mix clay bar lubricant in.
