Damn, 12 hour drive from here to Cherokee. That's almost like .. half a day ... wait a minute. Hehe, anyway, yeah, I'm 90% sure I'll be there.

I am in.

Brendan - 12 hours???? Not sure how that could be. I thought it's only 2 hrs for you to Atlanta, and it's only 160 mi. from Atlanta to Cherokee I think, so that's only another 1 1/2 hours

Dave - saw a list of places to stay on this page...

http://www.dickson.net/doc/gap/html/info.shtml

Sounds like we need to book soon!

I'm a 98% tenantive person due to the fact that I have to take the fam down to Orlando/Tampa/Clearwater the weekend prior, plus it is my duty, as a CL member to try and host the CL group for NOPI two weeks later. I'm leaning towards staying at Harrahs, if the prices aren't too bad for the weekend. I'm a biker that has been to the Deals Gap area a few times and can tell you that, it numbs the mind on a bike, please bring your drool cup.

Brendan, I'm looking for a mass caravan on the way up there from ATL, it won't be 12 hrs. Believe me

The dates stated are Sept 6-8 which is Fri/Sat/Sun. I figured I'd come up Friday after work so I wouldn't be there until dinner time.

Is that what others were thinking?

Fellas,

I plan to drive over on Saturday and drive back on Saturday night. I have work and family commitments on Friday and Sunday. You guys want to pick a breakfast place to meet at on Saturday morning? Then go attack the curves with a belly full of eggs and pancakes..muhahahaha

Brendan,

Maybe you should go ahead and get that Valentine One the way your luck has been lately.

I still dunno if i can make it. I will be in college then (down in Orlando) and my last class on Fri. gets out at 1. Then i would have to fly back to Roanoke (more likely richmond and get a ride from there somehow) and pick up my car. Then i would have to drive down to cherokee. What do u guys think? I really really really really want to come, but duinno how i can work it out. It would be easier if i didn't have to bring my car. I might go that way since i don't even know if my Blitz rims will be on by Sept. Oh well.

Hotel update:

I've left messages for group sales at Harrah's and am waiting to hear back, also at another local hotel. I checked with the Harrah's main reservation number and they said all rooms for Friday and Saturday in the casino hotel are booked. However, they have special deals with many of the local hotels (including Baymont, Comfort Suites, Comfort Inn, Best Western, El Camino, Holiday Inn, Quality Inn, Hampton Inn, Craig's, Ramada and some others). The deal is $77 per night, plus they give you two $10 certificates to use at the casino... Works out to $57 per night. I'm leaning towards this option, probably targeting either the Comfort Suites or Baymont.

The Tapoco Lodge is also wide open for that weekend. They don't do group deals, but there is some flexibility in rates if you don't include food (they do more of a B&B meal deal). Their rates were something like $79 room only, $99 w/breakfast and $139 with three meals. People not staying there can eat there too, and they do box lunches.

I'm thinking that I will try to get in the area Friday night so that I'm local for the drive on Saturday AM. Like Jazziz, I'm also leaning towards staying in Cherokee for the evening entertainment (casino and shows).

More updates as I hear back from group sales.

i'll be there Sat afternoon. i dont know what time the drive is but i think that i may have to put in a few hours at the clinic due to the fact that i wont be getting in from miami until that tuesday. hopefully cell phone coverage will extend into the parkway (of course knowing sprint it wont). and im definitely staying the night at the casinos. is anyone else bringing companionship (females). you guys are cool and everything but i think im leaning towards bringing something to snuggle with..........

Yep, certainly fine for other auto enthusiasts to come. General update:

- I've been waiting for a couple of hotels to return my calls /emails about group sales. I'm in town next week so I'll be able to call them during the normal business day and talk to a live person for the scoop.

- One of the guys on IS300.net is working on our route.

- My GF put out a broadcast note to one of the NSX distributions today, so we'll likely have a few of them join us as well.

We should be able to have most of the pieces come together over the next week or so - then we just need for folks to commit to go!

What we still need:

- knock on doors of potential vendors (like local Lexus dealer) and see if they want to donate any freebies for our giveaways
- if you are planning on going - especially if you plan to stay Sat and/or Sunday, let me know via pm or email ( davegs4@clublexus.com ) so I can give the hotels a general count of how many rooms we will need for our discount.
- for you folks meeting in ATL and other areas in August, see if you can make sure everyone that comes to those knows about the Sept meet

Thumbs up

I am down for anything in NC. I live in Boone, which is the same as Blowing Rock, so i could give the grand tour. plus who doesnt enjoy a weekend in the mountains. somewhere in NC would be good cause it seems the closest for everyone, maybe charlotte or asheville, only 2-3 hours for atlanta folks. just a thought.
