speaking of fear of the popo, I just got a new radar detector. I want to get it hardwired. I might try it myself if I can get the search to find me the right article on hardwiring radar detectors.

Do you know how to do it?

I've never done it before, but I've read through tons of threads about people doing them. Mainly the Valentine 1, so here's a link to one of the more popular threads on the subject

I didn't get the v1, i got this whistler that is supposed to be dope, but it ****ing sucks. I am going to sell it on ebay now. I got it off woot.
