The front license place saved by *** once--not on my car. I got rear ended and the guy ran off. What he didn't know was that his front plate fell off and was sitting in the street. I picked it up and gave it to the cops, they found the guy.

I remember a couple of years ago, on the parking lot, while I was gone, someone slightly hit me with a front license plate, so it left the number printed in my rear bumper cover. I did not do anything about that though.

huge gray area for a while...

basically means if you were assigned two license plates, you are supposed to use both, however, if they only gave you one, you are set...

I got two no front license plate tickets while in Texas...

this bill was supposed to go through like two years ago and didn't get passed...

the one nice thing is that this allows you to only run one and they can't pull you over because of it... although after some time, no one will have two plates at all...

here in Nevada, we have a kickass front license plate law - if there is a place for them, you have to have it, if no place for the plate, you don't need it...

I got pulled over 2 days after moving to Corpus from Temple. The cop followed me to my house and pulled me over in my driveway. He said it was because I didn't have a front plate. He then informed me about the "bill that had not yet been passed" saying that I wouldn't need one if it passed BUT until then I need a front plate. It's like a $65 ticket.

Strange. He pulled you over in your private driveway? That is not a public road. I would fight it in cort.

Code:
Texas Transportation Code
§ 502.404. OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITHOUT LICENSE PLATE OR
REGISTRATION INSIGNIA.
(a) A person commits an offense if the
person operates on a public highway during a registration period a
passenger car or commercial motor vehicle that does not display two
license plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle.
Definition of Public Highway:
Code:
(18) "Public highway" includes a road, street, way, thoroughfare, or bridge:
 (A)  that is in this state;
 (B)  that is for the use of vehicles;
 (C) that is not privately owned or controlled; and
 (D) over which the state has legislative jurisdiction under its police power.

I would suggest to contact Fred Brown (author of the HB 1666).
