Smile Looking for Lexus Mechanic

I have a 2001 IS300 Lexus and I am looking for a good, honest and dependable mechanic. I have been to JP Importz they are great but to far to drive all the time. I live near Ft. Worth and Arlington. I am needing my front brake pads replaced. Money is a little tight right now so I can't afford $300 plus dollars that Sewell Lexus charges. Any advise? Can my husband perform this task?

yes your husband can perform this task. I would look on the 1st gen is300 forums on here for a DIY on replacing the brake pads.

Also, if you don't think you guys can do this (which you can). You can take it to any trust worthy mechainic shop. It doesn't have to be a Lexus place. If you order the parts, you just need to do the labor. Try "dougs place" on cooper street in arlington.

Thanks for the info. What about for other mechanical needs? I have used Doug's place before for an old truck we had. I am so leary about mechanics especially since Lexus is so expensive to repair. I go to Sewell to get my oil changed because I trust they will back up their work if they screw up. Do you know what brake pad would be best?

i goto my friend to do all my services.
i don't even have to bring parts... he works at a mechanic shop and he owns a IS300 so its easy for him to order parts that our cars share...
for other parts that he can't order as easily i go order thru sewell lexus parts online because you can ask for clublexus discount.
they offer a good deal on factory parts at a good price.
