Default Houston: Owned the IS for 4 days... PWN3D

Houston freeways blow. On the way home from work, a truck threw some road debris up that cracked my windshield. Okay, not too bad, maybe a dime size? Well... coming to a stop on waugh I hit a crack in the road and the crack spread about a foot

Advice on Houston windshield repair?

ouch... try contacting your insurance company and see what they say... maybe you'll get lucky and they'll have a non deductible way to get it fixed...

Sewell sells replacement windshield... Check with your local dealership if they'll match their price

Call your insurance company. It should be covered under whatever your state calls comprehensive (fire, theft, glass). In many places and with many policies it's $0 out of pocket for this.

You'll want to try and insist on an OEM windshield though- they'll try and give you a cheaper one.

I suggest OE windshield either from Sewell or have your local shop find you one... Make sure they seal it right too...

Never drive behind trucks!! Paint chips up too. Sometimes if you get the trucks plate number and companies name, you or your insurance can go after them.

arg.... that sucks... I noticed a small chip in my windshield last week. When i started cleaning the windshield to get a closer look, actually looks like i have a bunch of really small chips At least they are small, none of them should spread, but still really annoying when sun hits it at the right angle.

Looks like the glass cannot be repaired... from what they told me, if it spreads beyond a half-dollar, it cannot be successfully repaired. If you have full coverage insurance, most will cover it.

Sorry to hear that...

I live in TX and had a windshield chip fixed for free via the ins company last year. They (the ins company) said I could have the windshield replaced if I prefer, but with a deductable charged :-(

I hope your experience is better.
