Default Rear knuckle bushing replacement

Hi guys, I had the car on the lift last week and noticed that the rear knuckle bushings (spherical bushings) are shot on my 2001 GS430. With the car in the air, you can lift each rear wheel about 1/4inch up and down so there’s lots of play.

The interesting thing is that I replaced these bushings myself about 7-8yrs ago. At that time, you could only source these on eBay and evidently they weren’t great quality. I don’t recall who made them.

I notice that when I do a Google search today, there are a lot of options. Dorman, FIGS, Megan. Etc

I’m here to ask for any recommendation on what manufacturer to go with? I see about a half dozen options online, such as this:

The Super Pro bushings seem to be the favorites, That’s actually what Figs recommends and sells. They are towards the higher end of the price range but it’s worth spending more if it means not having to buy em and install them twice.
And I think Figs also offers a complete replacement for to a different style of bushing that is much stronger and gives much better performance but I believe they are quite a bit more expensive.

I did look at those.

I’m wondering what lifetime I can expect to get with these bushings from FIGs?

Does anyone sell an OEM replacement? Doesn’t look like it.

Surprisingly the Dorman brand seem to have pretty good reviews at $27 a pop from Rockauto

Dorman makes pretty good products. They will just be rubber, so they will need to be replaced again in the future. If you want something that will last the lifetime of your vehicle you will need to switch to polyurethane. You’ll find a lot more options if you look for bushings for a IS300 (01-05). The suspension is largely carried over from the 2GS, but for some reason many aftermarket companies only show their parts for the IS, I have replaced a few of my Bushings with Megan Racing ones that have a part number that interchanges with the Toyota part number for a bushing for a 2GS, but to find them on their website, you have to search parts for the IS, and there quite a few brands that are the same way.

The Dorman part should still be a spherical bearing with rubber boots, like OEM, not rubber bushings.
This is why, despite having some myself, I have doubts about the longevity of polyurethane in this application, as opposed to upgraded sphericals.

My understanding is that poly is not meant for that particular bushing and therefore they used spherical.

I ordered the Dorman stock replacements from RockAuto for $27/unit. Hopefully I’m not doing it again in few years.

Now I just need to find a free day to do the job.
