GS400(stock) is no slow dog..A bit surprised today
I decided to take the GS4 out for a "spirited" drive today. As you guyd probably read I have been searching the forums and asking questions about how to make the GS4 handle better.
So I took it out for a drive, on the same set of roads where I drive my Acura Integra GS-R and also used to drive my Audi A6. To my surprise the GS4 was equally fast or faster in some turns than my GS-R that has Bridgestone Potenza 730s, front and back STB. The GS-R handles great, and i know what speed I am doing when going through a set of 3 turs, so I figured it would be a good gauge to measure the handling capabilities of the GS4 while its in stock mode.
There is a 90 degree right turn that I usually take at 38-40 MPH in the GS-R, now at that speed the Potenza's are not making any noise, but the front and rear is both sliding a bit, as far as i can tell that os about as fast as the Integra would go through the turn. The GS4 was ablt to do the same, infact on the 90 dgeree turn it was 2-3 MPH faster(was hard to read exact MPH) through the whole turn, the ONLY difference was that the GS4 was totally leaned over on one side and therre was a lot of "drama", as in the tires were squeeling and the car didnt feel planted. But thats it..the was going the same speed.
So my conclusion is that the GS4 does handle well, only with a bit of drama and body roll..the body roll could be attributed to the soft springs, the basic suspension looks like its pretty good, its just that the soft springs make it feel like its very slow. Add the quiteness and comfort and you definatly :think" the car can't handle fast turns...
I know that how the car feels is part of "handling", but atleast i was under the impression that the car just didn't stick, or handle turns at a higher rate of speed..well I stand corrected..
Now I am more optimistic about the fact that the GS4 can be made to handle turns faster with more confidence...that I cannot wait for...
Thank again for all your help...
The TRD STB is on the way..Will post pics soon...

Hey Kam, ya gotta come to Atlanta some time... check out how it is with sways and braces... TRANSFORMED.
I see coilovers in my future too... maybe you can buy my L-Tuned spring/shocks if you want to keep the ride comfortable.

I have 16s
Been playing with it this weekend. Love the fact that I can get it to oversteer on demand as long as it is in 2nd gear in dry...was laving 2 black lines everywhere with VSC off, coming out of corners.
I go a bit too HOT into the corner, let the car understeer a bit and the hit it, it brings the tail out on demand..Man its fun...not the fastest way around a corner

There is one line if the car isn't side ways but one of the two is buning..If i am able to kick the tail out then there are two lines, but none of them is burning or spinning..Hope this clears it up

once you get the GS sliding, it will spin both rear tires, its only when you are understeering that the inside tire will spin. Once the car is sideways it takes about the same force to spin both wheels, so both of them spin and leave 2 marks.
