Alot of things determine suspension life, driving conditions (rough roads, wieght carried etc). In the country you should get more than in the city, I know in NYC, struts are usually good for about 40k or so!

my 92 sc400 is showing signs of wear and tear of the suspension (springs sag) among others I'm at 200, 400 Km (like 110 miles?) I guess it's time to go for a tein upgrade soon.

No you dont have to take it to a dealer to check....if your shocks are getting bad you well hear a bumping or clicking sound...then check that side of the car, look to see if you can see any leakage of the shock..if you do then you will need new shocks...so 90% of the time your vehicle will let you know...

I just replaced my shocks and springs on my 1998 SC 400 and the car had 80k miles on it. I had a slight vibration in the front end at high speeds and also heard a popping clicking sound at low speeds everyone told me it was the front control arm bushings. So i bought the Daizen kit and new tockico struts/shocks and eibach springs. My car also has 18" wheels. I pulled the control arms to find in amazement that everything looked brand new so I decided to hold off on the bushings and just install the springs and shocks. This worked out great I got rid of my high speed vibration and the popping clicking sound is now gone. The car sits lower and looks awesome so that was a plus. The only downfall is a slightly stiffer ride but after about 2 weeks and 500 miles the ride seems to have soften up and or I have just gotten used to it but I love the way it drives. Now I just need to get it aligned.

My mintly "maintained" SC4 has 172k miles and it's still running on the original OEM suspension.
I sometimes hear "squeaks" as I go over bumps.
But oh well. They still work.
