I'd get the STB, but do the under car braces make that much difference? & are they bolt on installations or is it more complicated than that?

I think the underbody braces do even more than the STB, especially the sways. They are not simple bolt ons but no change to the car is necessary. If you are comfortable working on cars, then the bars are DIY.

I noticed that on the L-tuned site also that you can get front & rear "braces" that go under the car. Can someone explain what the purpose(s) of these if you already have the STB? or are they not necessary?

Also, are they just "bolt on" parts or are there any significant modifications that are needed before you install them? Finally do they make any "significant" difference in bracing the car as they are fairly expensive?(I know you can get just the front brace only) & do they improve the ride or make the car more "harsh" when driving?

I currently own a 01 ES but down the road I would seriously consider the GS as it is a georgous car and am very courious to these mods. Any help is appreciated.
the trd stb? about 150? from carson toyota

the underbody braces also help to make the car more rigit

yes they are all bolt on

Thanks for your responses everyone! Rominl, what are the front & rear underbody braces worth? & what would you say they weigh (roughly)?

the front lower chassis brace (lcb), two companies make them, trd and tom's. the trd one is almost like stock replacement (shape wise), but a lot heavier and stiffer, i think around 180 bucks, forgot coz' i got it long time ago

the tom's one, it has two extra beams to hold more stuff, but also a lot more expensive, close to 300 bucks?

the rear lcb, tom's make it, two types, one is closed (like a square) and one is open (light a u shape), both are 300 bucks. the closed type, unless you have certain aftermarket exhausts, you will hit

there is also tom's 6 links (literally, 6 links, 3 for each side) for the rear underbody, make suspension stiffer, another 300 bucks

yup, modding the gs isn't cheap

Ouch! lol Thanks for your help Rominl......I'd probobly fo with the STB & front TRD lcb. I wonder why Lexus didn't at least put a factory front STB on the GS to begin with?

These will help but I would consider the rears eventually as well. The GS tends to need more help in the rear than the fronts. In a sense, you are making it worse by tipping the scale towards the front even more. But with anything, put these on and see how your car behaves.

Good point Neo, just quite expensive......but I guess if you can afford a $50,000+ premium sports sedan then.... Does TRD make the rear lcb?
