stock 95 SC400 wheels/tires , lower sidewalls?
My 95 SC400 has the stock chrome wheels with Yokohama Avid V4 tires at P225/60R16 97V. I'm not at the point where I'm ready to go to a different wheel size yet (recovering from a busted back) -I want to maintain the factory smoothness in the ride.
I'm wanting to change out the tires for some Z rated ones, as I do a lot of Nevada and I5 runs where I set the cruise at approximately 120mph; just don't feel safe with V rated tires.
My question is if it would look okay to drop my sidewall higth some? The car looks 'blocky' to me with the current wheel/tire size, and lacks the elegance and body lengthening the lowering look gives to those of you who have dropped your ride higth.
The Yokohama Avid's have been a real long wearing tire and comfortable for my sensitive back. Don't know if they've got a descent 'Z' rated replacement. Nitro
P.S., Are those peeling foil chrome wheel centers replaceable?

Z rated tires arent always rated with the highest speed rating, theyre just the stickiest street compound. Y rated tires are the highest speed ones you can get. if you go with a smaller sidewall, youre going to lower the car without decreasing the wheel gap. Its going to look like you just got the wrong set of tires and are just waiting out the life of them. keep with the sidewall as is now until you get larger wheels. Remember that the SC is deceivingly big so it makes even moderately sized wheels look small. Chrome centercaps are replaceable but costly. Call around and see. I believe its about $20 per cap and $7 per emblem.

Actually, the stock tire for a 95 SC400 is a 225/55/16 so you are actually larger than stock right now. You can go back to a 55 series tire to lower the sidewall height and get a little better look. Hope this helps.

factory tire size....
I don't mind $20 each for the center caps, mine are peeling badly for some reason and thanks for the correction on the tire size being off. I knew something was off, 'cause it looks almost like a truck compared to the nicely wheel-outfitted ones I see on this site.... Thanks everyone! Nitro
