Default Brake pad replacement maintenance tip

When you get or do a brake pad replacement or remove your calipers for any reason on your GS, or any other model for that fact, try puting some anti-seize on the sliders to avoid them freezing. Sure wished my Toyota dealer had when he did my front brake job. The seized slider caused the out pad to eat into the newly surfaced rotor. I'm lucky that they were able to loosen the one slider and free it.

Just a thought and a cheap and quick bit of insurance..........

Interesting...I got the same tip from a local Toyota dealer in NJ about a month ago. I wound up using the Permatex Anti-Seize compound that is available from PepBoys. It doesn't like to wash off very easily, so I figure it will hang around on the sliding parts longer than anything else. I also used some of the CRC Disc Brake Grease in places, also avail at PepBoys. You just have to watch that you don't get any of this stuff on the pads, or places that will squeeze out onto the pads, or you'll be in for a bit of a ride....

For front calipers, the pad support plates (clips). The pads slide in/out on these support plates.
For rear calipers, the sliding pin that goes thru the hole in each pad.
