EBC Green STuff Brake pad dust???
Well,
I bedded my rotors/brakes and i've been very careful braking last night...
I drove 35miles so far...in the beginning there was bad vibration...like warped rotors?...however....before i put the car away..i drove down the same street..same speed..and brakes semi-hard...and there was zero vibration?...I guess it was a break-in thing..hopefully it won't come back..because i put up with warped rotors for 2 months..it was driving me crazy..
Anyways....back to the title of this post...Does anyone have EBC green stuff pads.??..I have a lot a brake dust even after 35miles..or is that normal for the break in period....keep in mind i'm on X-drilled, slotted rotors..so a little more is expected....everyone on other forums said this EBC green stuff was almost dust free..my old brake pads..which i'm not sure what brand barely dusted at all, however i was on stock OEM rotors.. I guess it's not a fair comparsion..because now i'm on X-drilled, slotted which will create slightly more dust....
BIGd

EBC's are suppose to be low-dust pads.....but I've heard from a few peeps that they can generate an unusual amount of brake dust.....but I think anything is better than OEM toyota pads.....the OEM ones stink - soooo much brake dust......I have to clean my wheels like every 3 days....that's killin it.....

I have silver alloy 7-spokes, but 3 more days, I will have gun metal 7-spoke alloys.
I'm just realizing the previous pads(which i'm not sure what they were) the previous owner had installed, might be better than the EBC greens, as far as dusting...I still have them..so, i might swap them in when the Green pads wear down.

EBC Brake Pads
Funny you should mention this. I just replaced all 4 rotors with new drilled and slotted rotors on a Lexus gs400 with 126k miles along with EBC green stuff brake pads on all 4 wheels. The first few runs sounded terrible and did have some vibration. I now have about 75 miles of braking and the vibration and any sounds went away. The pads do have to "set" and the rotors have to get used to the pads. The brake dust was heavy at first but seems to be getting a little better. I will keep an eye on this. The stopping power is better but I'm not ready to test it until 500 miles (recommended on EBC box).
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

I was told to break them in the hard way. a few 20 mph stops to warm them up then a few hard 60 mph stops.
Repeat with 20 then 80 and then 20.
My brakes stop hard, rotors aren't warped and no shaking. Been like this for 20,000 miles.

The EBC's defenitely are good pads if I were autocrossing I would absolutely consider them but as you said the dust is just to much for a daily driver, with shiny rims that you want to stay shiny.
I believe I am currently using the Akebono ceramic pads, (available at tirereack) but any ceramic will work well with low dust and the dust atht they do make isnt black so it doesnt stand out near as bad. I have even used Ceramic pads ffrom Napa with pretty good results.

This is from EBC's web page:
There is no such thing as a NO DUST pad. The very nature of how a brake works requires that some dust be generated to avoid rotor vibration (shimmying). The EBC pad creates less dust and dust is more easily washed off than most. All pads create more dust as they are bedding in especially if rotors are worn. Average friction coefficient 0.55
