Unhappy Installed Eibachs/Tokico ??

I just installed my Eibachs and Tokicos on my 97 400. I dont know if I like them Or not. I have only drove it about 3 miles. The ride definitely suffered, Now when I go over rough areas I hear a clunk in the back on both side. What’s up with that? What could it be? I guess I would be OK with the ride if it looked lower but it really only dropped about a half inch. I'm starting to think I made a mistake. Any one else have a similar experience?

or I dont know!

Well, these are new springs, so it should take time to settle. Yea, when it comes to suspension, your preference in comfort and height are extremely important. It is always good to pay for what YOU want, not what your budget permits, or you might just regret it.

good luck.

Give the new springs some time to settle, it should settle about .5" more. The clunking noise you're having in the back could possibly be your upper mounts (still have to do mine)... it's like a repetitive clunk over a bump yeah? (sounds like a few clunks over bumps).

Talking Gettin Better

I am starting to like it. I looked at old pics and new, it is definitely better! And it corners so much better!
No regrets!

Hmm I'm either thinking you forgot to tighten the top nuts all the way or missing a rubber bump stop somewhere.

I looked under my car and it looks like there are scratches on my axels where they bump the frame, I think thats the noise I hear. Its going on a rack this weekend so I will find out for sure and let you know. Anyone have this confirmed?

Did you find out what the problem is yet? I have the same noise since I installed new OEM struts and Eibach springs. Everything is tight so I've been stumped.

No I didnt get to put it on the rack today like I was planning. I wonder if it is the top portion of the springs hitting each other when it compresses? The upper coils are real close to each other it wouldnt take much for them to hit. Anyone got any other Ideas?

You know what? That's exactly what my friend and I think may be happening. I never hear the noise on raised bumps. I only hear the noise when it's a dip, like a pot hole. I think the spring rebounds and then the coils slap against each other when it recompresses causing the noise.

That would be my guess. I've heard of linear springs doing this but not progressives like Eibach. I've seen people put rubber coatings on a few of the upper springs to alleviate the issue. Can't hurt to try and if it doesn't work you know it's something else.
