Default Question?? Tokico illumia shock/spring kit. Anyone know about it??

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Tokico illumia shock/spring kit? I am looking at this kit, but can't find anything about it.. I know the illumia's are 5way adjustable damping, and have only seen the fronts for sale apart from this kit.. Also I understand that the kit uses Eibach Pro-Kit springs.. I never have found spring rates on the Pro-Kits.. Any help would be nice, as I may buy this kit for my SC..

I heard that this kit, while inexpensive, is not the best for this car. You can try it and find out..but you may be disappointed (something like 550 for everything right?)

I have the tokico illumina setup for supra tt. FIRST HAND experience (about 1.5yrs): I think it's fine. The ride is not harsh at all. You can get a great price online, 4-500$. However, recently, someone has purchased tein basic coilovers for approx 670$ online. In retrospect, If the tein basics were available when i purchased my tokico's, I would have spent more for the basics. The tein basics are height adjustable, but have a fixed rate strut (thus the cost savings).

Good luck with your decision.

i'd go with the tein basics even if the ride quality was the same its worth the extra hundred to have height adjustability. I had tokico illuminas in my mr2 and the ride was harsh and I've driven a integra with them and the right was very stiff and not comfortable at all. But perhaps it maybe a little better in the sc. But i still doubt they are anywhere as good as the tein's.

On my previous car the Illumina Kit was actually softer than stock. I don't really know what they are thinking, and I'm sure this is different for every car but thats my experience. Also I don't think they use The Pro Kit springs. I could be wrong but I was under the impression they used their own springs.

If you want to find out the spring rates, call Tociko and ask. Thats what I did and they were very helpful.

I think it was Nazty that had major headaches with the Illuminas. it went on and on and on... I went with TEIN Flex. Spend the money and get coilovers...

Default illumina

Just to clear up any confusion (2nd hand info), Natzy's problem was the installation of the daizen camber kit. The bushings/camber kit was installed improperly so he could never correct his alignment (they kept on spinning within the control arm).

GOOD LUCK.

I have this kit for 2 years. It's a pretty fair ride if you keep setting low for stiffness. But I would have gone with Tien basic if it was available back then cuz Tokico ill. drop your car pretty low. Keep that in mind if you gonna get it.

I have it and love it..mind you that it sits very low. Remeber this is a tuned package where the springs and shocks are manufactured by the same company. It is a great street setup but no where stiff enough for track use as the spring rates are olny about 25% stiffer.
