Default supra tt sway bar conversion (parts needed?)

i know this topic has been brought up many times before.

i searched the forums and found several people who have swapped their oem sway bars with supra tt sway bars or TRD supra sway bars.

anyway, I purchased a set of TRD supra sway bars and I am just awaiting shipment.

The package came with front & rear sway bars, bushing and bushing brackets with grease fittings mounted on them. I bought them preowned from supraforums.

What my question is.. what exactly do I need (if anything) to make these fit on my SC.

Do I need Supra end links? I heard people who take supra tt sway bars and put them on their SC need supra end links because the ones from the tt and sc are completely different. But then again, I was reading a post where the guy took TRD sway bars from the Supra and fitted them on the SC with stock end links. So i'm not sure.

Either way, is there anything else I need besides endlinks -if so?

All help is appreciated.. thanks in advance for all responses.

Yep the Supra end links. That's all you need. Everything should bolt on perfect with the Supra end links. You can try using the stock end links but I'm almost definite they're much different.

thanks for the responses.

so from reading what you guys have told me.. i will need

subframe mounts, subframe bushings, end links?

we should just create a list of what exactly one needs, and sticky it, as it seems to be a very common upgrade.

I think most people go for the aftermarket Supra suspension. Because it's meant for throwing your car into turns really fast. Supra swaps are still better than SC stock because our cars were meant for luxury and sporting around a crazy fast engine that they decided "HEY! I got a crazy idea, let's slap in a fast engine into a luxury car.. and then tune it for luxury! So our customers will complain for more speed from the engine." ...Oh the potential.
Personally I would look into what the aftermarket has to offer for the Supra.

Why not get the Daizen sways? They were designed for our cars and they aren't dangerously close to the oil filter like the TT sways.

You need the two, rear most sub-frame mounts; they double as the swaybar mounts.

Thats what I'm thinking. And its easier to do since you dont have to hunt down those subframe mounts on SF.

don't daizen sways cost around $500?

i bought my TRD sways for $215 so i thought it would just be cheaper to get the TRD ones and subframe mounts elsewhere

$215 is an insane price. I got mine brand new for $320.

If anyone is interested, i have a set of TRD bars with subframe mounts up for sale in the for sale forum. Its pretty close to the top. PM me or email me if insterested. rscott76@ucla.edu

There are some common missconceptions floating alround this forum on the sway bar issiue.

First is handling: It is true that stiffer "racing" sway bars better control body roll in turns. BUT there is a price to pay. Rear end of the car became more "busy", It is much easier to loose control of car in the corner and crash it. Understand that. If you are average driver w/o track expirience think twice.
Secondly if you do not use car for racing like autocross or something why would you need beefy swaybars for? American roads like ones we have in Florida have no curves at all, exept for 90 degree 4-way Stop intersections.

Next, cost effectivness. Recycled TT parts are dirt cheap and more then adequate for street appications . Then can be paint red if need to.
Wheel and tire set up, wide, low profile tires like 245/40 series combine with stock TT Supra suspension setup take care for most of the "handling" issiues SC400 may have.

Lastly, suspension setup that is a science. All you can do if you just replace various componenets w/o proper tunning is deengineering your suspension. Make car unsafe or have other issiues so often found on this forum like tire wear or such. Have that in mind.

Default Slightly Off-Topic......

Those are good thoughts but I hope you don't really think all American roads are like those in Florida.

Florida is I believe the flattest state in the union. If you'd like to see some nice curves, come to <insert your state here>. (But I will grant that Florida has the smoothest roads in the world- stiffen up your suspension there, and you'd think the ride is not affected at all, until you ventured out of state!.)
