i know, some days its ridiculous. i mean 10 noobs a week come, don't search and ask where they can buy this or what this part is and MOST EVERYONE jumps to help them but someone who has actually looked around and is trying to find info (not just me as some people have issues with me, even though i help alot of people on here) noone says anything to them somedays....

of all the people on here with LS400 swaps just one person answering is pitiful

Hello, i have a caliper and rotor from 98 Supra TT that i use from my 90 LS400, will this be just a bolt on and no modification needed? anyone know where can i get those spacers? not talking about the universal kind..

I have a front good pair of Lexus gs350 and gs460, they are huge and nice.
I try to put in my 95 sc300 and my 2nd gen. gs400. But, both cars do not fit.

Does anyone here success on fitting them?
Or any kits or tools that I need to use in order for them to fit into either 95 sc300 or 2000 gs400?

Ok, I just picked up some LS400 brakes. Its hard finding pads available for the calipers. I have read about EBC Red Stuff, Yellow Stuff, Carbotech Bobcat, and Stoptech pads.

Initially I want the EBC Red Stuff but read somewhere where some people said skip to the Yellow stuff because the Red stuff is hard on the rotors and will leave grooves.

What are opinion on these pads?

I have ebc reds on my gs, been on for 60k still feel fine, although it is almost time for a change, after reading this thread, I might be in the market for some ls400 calipers before hand

????? WTF am I doing wrong? I just had shaved the calliper and cut the bolt so the calliper clears the tie-rod (.5mm), and was trying to test fit the rim with the stock GS400 rotor. No go! The LS calliper is not clearing the rotor. When bolting on the calliper, it touches the stock rotor and pulls it inside a bit so the rotor doesn't sit flat. The rotor sits under an angle. I decided not to order the rotors for the LS before I could put on the callipers. Do the LS and GS have different offset of the rotor? How did your GS rotor fit then?

Am I missing something or the red part in my sketch below is thicker on actual LS400 rotor than on GS400, so it sits deeper?

im pretty sure u need LS400 rotors as well. GS rotors are smaller

Finally I have done it!!!


I included a few pics just to show the process. And yes you need LS400 Rotors, and I have no Idea how someone could fit the stock GS ones. There is a difference in offset of the rotor of about 7mm. The LS rotor sits deeper as expected. If I knew how much of shaving I would have to do, I would have gone the other route. The tolerances are very low. The gaps are barely enough to slide the paper trough. There also was a surprise. I will post about that later. I hope its not going to catch anyone of guard, but besides the tie rod touching the calliper, there is another place where the calliper touches, and prevents for proper bolt on.

So, the calliper touches the "thingy" at the bottom of the suspension. Hard to explain, but you can kind of see in the following picture outlined in red circle. The point is that the calliper side rests on that thing and after shaving the bolt on the tie rod it will appear that there is a clearance. I am sure after some time after driving, vibrations will bend the aluminum on the calliper, and it will eventually slide towards the cut tie-rod bolt, perhaps causing damage to the calliper. It took me 10 tries at least to fit it on each side. When the tie rod was clear the side of the calliper would touch, as soon as I would take off a bit of material of the side, the calliper would engage the tie-rod. etc. The shaving shown on one of the pics below as well. I also put a small weld on the opposite side of the rod nut to prevent it from turning. Even though that there is a pin, the hole that its in is too large, and in case if things got loose the jagged and sharp edge of the cut bolt might turn just a bit even with the pin inside, and cat into your calliper fluid line.
