whats up guys.
installed my tein flex setup today
it is pretty nice and everything went well
total job took 3 hours with some breaks in between

there is a slight knocking in my rear strut.. not sure why.
i checked all bolts and they were tight
i got an opinion from a tech, he said hes almost positive its the stabalizer bar bushing..

could it be something else? he said no damage can occur just the annoying knock.
just want to see what you guys have got to say.. thanks

I am not sure which one it would be but it more prob. than not a bushing.

I think your control arm bushings is making that noise since there is more stress on them when you drop the car....I would check that all the Tein suspension components are tighten up before anything..It could be a cheaper fix..

Well I have knocking on mine as well but it is in the front suspension. If you do a search you will probably find several posts documenting increased noise ie knocking and such after installing teins. I havfe been told that this is due in part to the metal to metal mounting. of the coilover to the frame. I believe the stock suspension had some kind of material between teh shock and the car that kept the noise down.

thanks for all comments.. i will probably begin with changing the bushings as i had plans to do them even before any knocking.. if knocking is still there after bushing replacement.. i'll see what else i can do. ill keep you guys updated.

did you get the pillow ball mounts also or no? Man, this is kinda making me worry about gettin Teins now

yes they came with pillow ball mounts.

hope you find the problem.
i already have the clunking sound. i'm thinking of doing the bushings and suspension in one shot . but since i have no car knowledge i'm taking my time. lol

Mine do it too...I checked each coilover several times, all of the bolts-Torqued to specifications. I have found that this is not a Tein thing, but a coilover thing. One thing that makes me think it is not the Coilovers is that the knocking has gotten worse. The knocking is in the rear...I am about to change all the bushings- upper and lower control arm bushings, front and rear, to Vlamos bushings. I have already installed the Vlamos in the front lower arms, so just the uppers in the fronts. I will also replace all the sway bar bushings as well...

Hopefully this will eliminate the problem.

this is a very common problem and a known issue. While it is not harmful it *is* incredibly annoying. I don't know how to fix it though

I've installed several shocks/springs and coilover setups....

"MOST" of the knocking that I've found common is the upper strut nut.
Usually 8 of 10 times thats the culprit.

The fix?

You can't just start tightening the upper nut (the nut on top of the shock assembly. The nut in the center (not the ones that bolt up to the chassis of the car), because the rod/valve will move with it.

1. Grab a rag and channel locks. (or some big pliers)
2. Raise the car and hold the shock valve/rod. (the shiny part of the shock... inside the spring area)
Use the channel locks (or pliers, whatever u have) to hold it... use a rag because you don't want to scratch the valve/rod. It will be EASIER if the wheel and tire is removed.
3. While holding the valve/rod, have someone tighten the top strut nut.

i have the same exact issue... been searching, searching, searching..... does anybody have a solution to this issue that installed Tein Flex on their SC....????
The knocking is quite annoying if your not bumping the beats... any help is appreciated... thanks guys.

are you crazy you never use channels locks on the shaft of a strut . you have to use a impact gun to tighten that bolt . if you by any way mar that surface you struts are toast .
I know this for a fact i let the morons at les swab put in my struts on my mr2 and the small scratch made it tear the seal and the brand new strut leaked and it also voided the warranty of the strut.
even putting a rag is a bad idea one slip and 250.00 down the drain

i kinda thought the same thing...but didn't want to say anything!
i'd rather just deal with the noise rather than destroy an expensive pair of rear coils....
but again, if anybody has any helpful info...dont hesitate to chime in... thanks!
