Question Difficulty of removing LCA? Please help...

Sup guys, I recently acquired a 95 SC400 with 94k miles. For some reason it has a clunking noise when I turn at moderate speed, so I brought it to a mechanic. One mechanic said that the rack and pinion was toast, while the other said the bushings on the Lower Control Arm along with the ball joint needed to be replaced. What do you guys think? I searched the forum and most likely, the complete LCA will need to be replaced. Is there any way I can check the rack to see if its OK?

How hard is it to swap out LCA's? Can it be done with basic tools and a ball joint remover? There are a bunch of DIY on the bushings but I can't find any details on removing the LCA from the suspension. Please help me out guys so I can get this badboy fresh on the road again. Thanks! Alex

Default LCA swap

I went with the supra LCA's on mine and did it myself. It took about a day. It's fairly simple just a lot of bolts, and such I'd say. The hardest part I'd say would be taking off the ball joint but I didn't spend the extra $ to just get a remover (hammered it to death instead). There's an online tutorial I used...Let me try to find the link. It's pretty straight forward though.

Here's the link http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...showtopic=4957

I followed these steps and it worked wonderfully. Be sure to get an alignment afterwards. Otherwise, yep just basic tools and some elboe grease and you're good. If you have any questions about it just pm me.
