Default Brakes smoking?????

Decided to upgrade my brakes on the SC. Got slotted/drilled rotors for all 4 corners. Went with oem pads on the rear and Axxis Metal Masters for the front. So far today, I have been able to smell my brakes. When I got home for lunch, I noticed they were smoking slightly and looked like a good deal of brake dust in the slots. Is this normal side effect of break in or did I choose the wrong pads for slotted/drilled rotors?

It's a normal part of break-in. The first time you heat up the pads they will release all sorts of good stuff. The smoke and the smell with eventually stop.

Ever start a brand spanking new engine for the first time? It's nerve-racking lol.

Thanks for the re-assurance. Not used to seeing a four alarm fire coming from my fenders
