welding the diff would make it super lock. if oyu wanted super lock i would go with os giken, although pricey, its better than having your welds braeak off, jam into your axle, lock your rear wheel at 80mph on the freeway. thats just my opinion

you can get it to drift, but it definitely lacks power beacuse of the weight. it can get sideways pretty easily with stock power but correcting lines with power in mid-drift is the problem. overall its doable =) o yea, definately need an lsd and a stiff setup.

my buddy has a welded diff on his s13 for about 6 months and we do 1-2 track events/month plus street once/week.
mongol what are the rates on the hks coils? i heard they are kind of low. Anybody driven them vs. kei office? (20kg/mm and 16kg/mm)

that is a track set up and its really stiff actually, but it all depends on personal preference what you use, some use 16kg in front and 10 in rear, i believe the hks hipermax II's are those rates, i for one dont mind the super stiff spring rates, ride quality must be sacrificed if you want an excellent handeling car

couldn't you call the dealer and order which spring rate you wish? or would that have to be custom, and if so where would one locate a place for custom springs or coilovers.

i believe you can order custom spring rates from HKS, jic, tein, etc. but they will cost more and you will have to wait longer to get them built to your specs. so if you have the money and the time then go for it, also im pretty sure you have to order them directly from the manufacturer, not a dealer

usually the dampers or coilover shock body can handle up to a +/- 4 kg, so you wouldnt have to wait for the shock to be built to your specs, when ordering just tell them you want stiffer springs and they will tell you how much stiffer they can handle.
