How do you remove the third brake light?

Gmoney,
I don't know if this'll work, but since the IS is not available with a factory spoiler (i.e. no third brake light) you may have to use the GS relay kit in your wiring harness when you have your spoiler installed. The only other option is to have the warning light in the dash on. I haven't seen the instructions from IS300.net, but I suspect the GS relay is what was used. In which case you would probably want to get rid of the whole rear deck (interior), but again I don't know if that is going to solve anything if the IS has no factory spoiler, then Lexus would not have a part number for a rear decklid with no 3rd light cutout. I know I haven't been much help, but this topic has been discussed at length in the GS forum.

thanks for the info but....
I just wanted to take off the third brake light housing temporarily, so I can get the windows tinted...I don't like the look of tint going around the brake light housing.
Anyhow, good info for me when I install a spoiler.
THANKS!

Its real easy to take off. Most tint places will do it if you tell them. I took mine off before cause I didn't want them to mess it up. If I remember right there are three pices. the back housing the silver reflecter inside and the red lens. there are sme plasic perssure hooks that sit doen into the slots in the metal. I can not remember if you can see it inside the trunk or not, but take a look. all I did was gently placed a flatt head driver under the back housing till I fount the clips adn getle pushe in to remove the housing. Not hard at all.

the correct method is:
remove rear seat, pull back rear seat sides to reveal bolts
remove rear seat back its cliped in and bolted
remove rear window trim panels l/h r/h
rear panel should lift up undo multi pin plug
voila

Just a idea for those that want to totally get rid of the third breake light and have a nice rear deck. Go look at the 2002 IS 300 if I remember right they come with a rear spoiler that has a third breake light. In this case they might have removed the rear deck light and have a nice full deck cover.
