JDM 4 wheel steering?
Found a auction on ebay for a rear differential (search for gs400 differential) and it claims by bolting this unit on, I will have 4 wheel steering. True or false?
Are the aristo really 4 wheel steering? If so, why usdm vehicles dont ever get the goodies?

bumping this back to the top... i was looking through an older japanese magazine at a shop and it showed the rear end of a jdm v300 and there was mention of 4 wheel steering... does anyone know how it works and does it help/hinder handling?

Yes, the Aristo V300 has Active Rear Wheel Steer. From what I know, apparently it kicks in to get you out of sticky situations. Apparently there is a control module for it, so i don't think it is as simple as just bolting the rear end in.

Yeah it's available in JDM V300's. A lotta the V300 owners who drive aggressively remove the rear steering unit. It seems to cause the car to spin out rather easily and are prone to breakage

Looks like his balljoint snapped on him too...good to know that isn't a problem exclusive to our USDM cars

Japan, like the European market, need very a tight turning radius for their smaller street and urban sprawl. In the US, home of the Excursion, we should have plenty space to maneuver.
To add it to the US market would add unnecessary costs and would make the suspension that much more likely to fail after a certain period of time.
There are pros and cons to almost everything.
