remanufactured TT calipers
Hi, I was just wondering has anyone else besides nextlevelcoupe do the Supra TT brake upgrade with remaunufactured calipers from autozone/pep boys?? if so how is everything holding up so far??

I rebuilt my calipers myself. It's not a hard job... there are not many moving parts in a brake caliper. I know supra owners get their calipers rebuilt by shops, so I don't see how buying rebuilt ones would be any better or worse, unless you simply wanted to be a baller who only buys NIBies.

sorry if I was unclear before but what I meant was to find out, If anyone has did the TT brake upgrade to their sc300/400 but instead of buying the supra calipers from various places like the dealer, online shops or from supra owners. But instead of those options. Buy the calipers from autozone/ pep boys which are basically the same except they are rebuilt ones. since they are alot cheaper i believe these are the prices
c9372(front left) $40.99 add $53.00 for core charge
c9373(front right) $ 40.99 add $53.00 for core
total about $100 with core exchange or $200 without
c9377(rear left) $71.00 - add $77 for core charge
c9376(rear right) $71.00 - add $77 for core charge
total about 140 with exhange and 300 without
then buying everything else, pads, rotors, ss brake lines online and shim kit and fitting kit else where, most likely the dealer (carson toyota).. btw does anyone know what the part # is for the shim kit and the fitting kit?? and how much shorter does the bolts need to be so it doesnt hit the rotor?? so yea i hope this clears up any confusion if any. thanks in advance

Im sure the reman'd calipers, from parts stores, hold up just fine. Seems like a much better alternative, than spending two or three times as much. Like you said, a caliper isnt a real complex device.

damn that stinks for you.. i'm almost possitive that the autozone/pep boys around my area has them. because when i checked it said they have them in stock. and if anything they coudl always order one you might have to wait a day or two but at that price its deffinatly worth the wait. I plan on definatly doing the brake upgrade soon. so as soon as i decide to do it i'll let everyone know how it turns out

I have them on my car and they are fine. I had problems at first with them leaking, but that was only because my dumbass didn't change the crush washers when i swapped them (wasn't thinking) They are fine now with brand new washers and don't leak at all. I payed 40 each for mine, but keep in mind, that these are only the caliper and pistons. You will need the shim kit, pins, plate etc for them to be complete. I think I payed $30 for all the accessories from toyota at cost.
These are made by sumitomo as well, so they're just rebuilt factory tt calipers.

DETUNED thanks a lot. i was wondering if you remembered what where the part #'s for teh shim kit, plate and pins?? or could i just call toyota and tell them the parts and they'll know exactly which part im talkin about. i also heard that you need shorter bolts because the stock sc ones will touch the rotor?? if thats true, do you recommend buying new ones or cutting the stock ones? oh BTW your car is hot!!! i can only hope one day i'll get to that level

I still ahve the reciept for all the parts needed, but I'm gonna have to dig them up. It's best to go to the toyota dealership and when they show you the diagram, you can pick out what you need. If I have some extra time tonight, I'll dig through my old paperwork.. As for the bolts being longer....I never heard of that. I just used my stock ones when I removed my old calipers. You do have to either cut the dust shield for the rotor to fit, or remove it all together like I did.
Let me know if you need any other info.

I tried this route with my local Pep boys. They sold the 2 piston caliper as the replacement for the TT's Basically down grading the TT caliper to what I already had.
Maybe it was just my local shop making the mistake.
