Hey guys,
My car has been vibrating while going around 70 + mph. Do you have any idea what it may be? I'm concerned and I hope it isn't too serious. any ideas?

Try balancing ur tires first. Cheapest option. With my last car, the car shook really hard past 80-90 mph til i got the tires balanced

I would definitely try to balance first as xknowonex mentioned. If that doesn't fix the vibrations, try to take your car to a wheel shop and have them spin your wheels on the balancing machine to check if they are "out of round" or slightly dented. That will cause vibration when you exceed speeds of 70mph. I am currently buying new wheels for my SC300 because the wheels are "out of round" and cause vibrations. It sucks because that's an expensive fix. Good luck and hopefully it just needs balancing!

Since ur fortunate, unlike many of us, and got a newer 99 model, whats the mileage on it. FYI, usually the bushings go out around 60-80k miles. I have 140k on my 1992 and boy it handles sloppy and and scary at times on the freeway

The car just hit 67k; man do I drive this thing alot. How can you tell if a bushing is going bad?

There are a few things that it could be:
1) Wheel Balance
2) Bad tires (uneven wear, or toe in)
3) Wheel Bearings
4) Tie Rod Ends
5) Bushing on top of front struts (I kid you not, my car was vibrating and this was the problem)
6) Controll arm bushings
The list goes on... I suggest you take it to a shop and have them go through the suspension top to bottom...

Also, its strange that your vibration doesn't come till 70mph. From what I hear most SC's start vibrating from 60mph.

If ur willing to fork out the money for the lower control arm bushings and probably the steering rack ones, u would get the crisp new car feeling. Signs of bushing deterioration includes: excessive vibration while driving or accel or braking, difficulty of driving straight, unstable feeling. Mine is bad to the point where u can see it visually. Personally I would start off with a balance. Very cheap
