Default The control arms are aluminum after all?

For a while, many of the guys on here who shopped for the Supra control arms have noticed the price difference between the LCAs of the late year ones and the early ones and wondered if the more expensive ones are made of aluminum. To my suprise after reading the review of the SC, the stock arms are made of aluminum.

Here is a direct quote from Road and Track's review of the SC400 in their July 1991 issue:

"The SC400 suspension makes good use of aluminum for the A-arms to reduce un-sprung weight."

That has to be a misprint. The unless the aluminum they used was somehow triple the density of normal aluminum and has the ability to rust.

The A-arms are the front upper control arms which are indeed aluminum in both the SC and Supra right from the beginning.

Yup. Same in the rear suspension. It's easy to see which arms are aluminum. The front upper CAs and the rear upper CAs are very light and silver in color. The lower arms are painted black.
