I meant that when a tire is compressed that happens AT THE GROUND (i.e., at the bottom of the rim), not on the top (inside the fender) so it shouldn't have any effect on rubbing.

Maybe I was not clear...I have not issues with rubbing, I am having issues with the bottom of my car hitting speed bumps as soon as my front tires go over the bump. Two months ago I did not have any problems with the exact same speed bumps, and the only thing I have changed are my wheels. Took off my 18's and put my 16's back on. I am hoping and assuming that the reason for bottoming out (not tire rubbing) is caused by the 16's and not my shocks going bad.

Well, put the 18s back on and try the same speed bumps again. The sidewalls for the 16s are softer than the 18s.

I typically would, but I left them 200 miles away and they have two bald tires...I don't think it's worth the effort at this point.

Thanks for your help everyone! I will continue to pay close attention to my suspension just to make sure nothing is going bad, but for now, I am going to assume the problem is with my tires.
