Default Possible wheel bearing failure?

So, within the last week or so I have had a slight shimmy in the steering wheel when applying the brakes at higher speeds (55+). I have Brembo Sport drilled rotors that are less than 6 months old. I have allways torqued my lugnuts to 75 ft-lbs so I don't think my rotors are warped. There is also no pedal undulation at all which leads me to believe that there is something else causing the steering vibration. This leaves only a few items to be the culprit, the wheel bearings, tire rods, bushings or a combination of these.

Anyone have any insight here?

Which brake pads are you using? I've been thru this situation several times. Take a look at your rotors to see if there're any patches of dis-coloring. If you see some, those are the deposit from your brake pads under high temp. tThose patches caused the friction difference on the rotor surface. Usually, re-surfacing the rotors will fix this.

I now use ceramic pads, they are much better.

I am running Satisfied Pro Ceramic pads. I am going to inspect them this weekend and check for deposites and runout of the disk.

Thanks

Most chain brake shops won't re-surface x-drilled or slotted rotors since they will damage their bits when hit the groove on the rotor surface. You need to find a mschine shop with carbite bits to handle such jobs. I got my rotors turned in a machine shop for $40 couple times.

Ok, I think I might have found the problem. I think I have an inner and/or outter tie rod end going out. I am getting a very audible "pop" when I turn the steering wheel a little and when I go over a curb slowly. It has been getting worse over the last week. The car now wanders all over at highway speeds. I am taking it in asap to have it inspected.

The sacrifices we make for good looks. I am pretty sure that my 19's have expediated the failure of the tie rod along with a set of ball joints a few months back. Oh well, at least it looks good when it breaks
