Default Strut opinion

I'm happy to post again after a year of just lurking and being a net celebate with posting. I'm about to get some new struts for my 95 SC400 which seems to be bottoming out in the cold Washington DC area weather. Actually, I think it started when it was warm out but is now just more noticable. I don't want a competition strut, just something to equal an original if not smoother ride for my boney old ***. I have reviewed the posts and come away thinking the Tokico HP blues are great but might be stiffer than original.....

What struts should I be looking for that will buffer this boney old ***?

Thanks so much for suggestions..... Anyone know of mechanics in the DC area that might be a good alternative (more resonably priced) to put the struts on? Anyone know the average cost of labor for both front and back?

Thanks and it's nice to be back (have no idea why I just lurked)....

What a shameless bump on my part.... I've decided on going OEM struts after rereading every thread I could find on this topic.

Now for my next question... Anyone have a suggestion/reference for a good mechanic in the Washington DC metro area that will do a resonable $$$ install for me? Lexus wants $1,000+ as does Toyota at $1,000. A local garage wants 5.5 hours at $75 per... and shop charges about 450, not including alignment at $90.

I feel like I'm being screwed when I read about the $200 or less installs for front and rear. I really could use some help on finding a honest/good place to go. Any Lexus mechanics in the house?????

Thanks..

The people getting quoted $200 are mostly people getting flat-rate quotes. See if you can find a local shop/mechanic thats willing to install struts for a low, flat rate.
