GS Suspension/Lowering?
GS300 AWD curb weight/dist. = 3760lbs. 55%F 45%R
GS300 RWD curb weight/dist. = 3536lbs. 53%F 47%R
GS430 RWD curb weight/dist. = 3745 lbs. 54%F 46%R
RWD turning diameter = 34.1
AWD turning diameter = 35.4
RWD ground clearance/Height = 5.1/56.1
AWD ground clearance/Height = 5.5/56.5
From the numbers above it seems as if the AWD is very similar to the GS430 in respect to curb weight and weight distribution (Front +45.7lbs., Rear -30.7lbs.). The AWD turning diameter is larger and sits higher than the RWD. I spoke with a master tech at Coliseum Lexus of Oakland and he indicated the AWD should have a stiffer damper compared to the RWD's (not sure for 300 vs. 430). Also, suspension design differs from the RWD versus AWD because of a drive shaft going to each of the front wheels (links). I havn't measured or physically compared the actual springs but I believe the only difference in the springs among thecars are spring rates (O.D. should be similar). Basically, if I were to be impatient and install GS430 spec'd lowering springs in my AWD do you guys think I'd run into any issues? I want to install larger wheels/tires and lower the car a little bit (close the gaps).
