Are OEM brake pads really that bad?
So, just joined the family with my 2000 GS4. I shaved $500 off theprice of the car and told the dealer that I would do the brakes myself. Since I am not a "performance" driver, I am thinking of just getting OEM brake pads as replacements. I'm guessing they are a lot less money, than aftermarket? Can one suggest an alternative similar to OEM?
Thanks in advance... I love my car and this forum.

OEM brake pads are not bad, and are good enough for daily drivers.
However, there are other pads (e.g. Axxis Ultimate, Axxis Metal Masters) available that are similarly priced that are more performance oriented, and some that are cheaper (e.g. Axxis Deluxe Plus) but with similar performance as the OEM pads.

The stock Lexus GS brake system is good for some very impressive 60-0 times for a car that weighs more than 3700lbs with driver.
Those aftermarket ones are ok too, you just have to ask others about potential dust factor.
