people please. if you are going to get springs, please buy new shocks. dont half a** it

for the record, H&R makes a fantastic product. I had their sport springs coupled with Bilstein shocks on my Audi S4 and they were great

also, if you arent goign to track your car, you dont really need coilovers. for street use, a good set of springs coupled with shocks is more than enough

Do you still really need to buy new shocks even if lowering your car just 1 inch?
I don't think so. I think it's a waste.

have fun with a bad back, terrible very bouncy ride quality, and prematurely blown stock shocks. Stock shocks are not designed to dampen aftermarket spring rates and will wear out much faster. When stock shocks blow you are going to have to go in the suspension again, fix it, then get another alignment. There is no need to go through two installations and two alignments when it can be done all correctly the first time

I'm with Tim on this one. My last car had 35k miles on it before I lowered it 1.5 inches with H&R springs and stock shocks. Put an additional 25k miles on it without any shock problems. The ride quality wasn't bouncy at all, just a little firmer. One thing to be careful about though is big pot holes, I did have a shock bottom out once or twice.

My coworker has an IS300 with about 30K miles and dropped with 1" H&R springs only since the car was new. He said he's had no problems with the suspension.

I will agree with both of you. I lowered my old celica by 1.5" with TRD lowering springs and kept the stock shocks. I had no problems and I had 60k miles on it.

I installed the H&R springs on my old Accord. I had the big alignemnt problem. So I will wait for the coilover or Eibach pro kit system for my IS.
