Default New Calipers - Paint Color? Need help fast

Hey guys:

I got two LS400 front calipers and I have a guy who is going to powdercoat all of my calipers for a $80 early next week, the real question is what color? I have the red color, but trying to get a red to match that might be difficult.. I don't want to do black or silver b/c that would just defeat the purpose of painting them I think -- could have just left them the metal color.... Anyhow, I have 20 inch chromes with about a 2 inch lip, and I was thinking of a Ferrari look with a deep yellow.... thoughts? I also am thinking of painting the hubs for the rotors (slotted / drilled) the same....

PLEASE help... Rajshnu

This might sound ghetto and stupid, but what about chroming the calipers? That would be something new....i think.

Yellow would look good
No on the chrome, you could risk messing up the cups and the pistons won't seal correctly
Metal or Polish finish is good too, then you can powdercoat them Clear
There are some other cool powdercoat finishes too, like Granite

I just took a look at the Grex Calipers, and would like to third my first idea. They look great.

Default Red

It doesnt need to match exactly and red calipers do look nice.

Granite is a neat finish, but on calipers? That is usually a furniture finish.

Sure, you can get chameleon mica looks with powder also. Usually you are limited to a 2 or 3 color flop and I doubt your coater can supply that powder at that low a cost.

How about red with metallic flakes? I can get you some aluminum flakes to take to your powdercoater if he doesn't have it.

I'd do red, it won't be all that noticeable of a difference because its your calipers..

huh???

Granite is a paint finish, not a furniture finish

Doing the hubs would be way too much color IMO.

LOL. I know what granite powder is, been formulating them since '89. I just meant that it has historically only been sold to the furniture industry, but sure could be used on anything.

Of course anything is better than a corroded caliper. Good luck!
