HORRIBLE metal schreeching noises from rear wheels!

So today, I get in the car and drive along to run a few errands. An hour or so later, I hear some HORRIBLE metallic screeching noises from rear wheel area.
I get home and proceed to tear apart the rear suspension area (both sides). I take off the wheels, the calipers and the rotors to diagnose what is making that noise. The passenger rear wheel hub is making a metal scraping noise when I hand turn it. It is not the e-brake, as the rotors were taken off on both sides and checked to ensure it wasn't the culprit. And the rear brakes are not suspect either, as they are not seized. It is purely the passenger rear wheel hub assembly. With only the rotor on the hub, I grab the studs and turn it...it'll make a scraping noise.
So what is making the noise? Do I need to have to bearings regreased/repacked? The noise is pretty constant at speed. Not a "whine" noise, but more of a metal on metal screeching. It goes away when I"m at speed, but is very noticeable when I'm coming to a stop.
Any clues to what the problem is?
Thanks.

I use a torque wrench every time I for my wheels and use torque specs per the Lexus manual.
I did have my rear tires replaced recently by a tire shop. Maybe they overtorqued the studs, since they used air tools (which is likely the case).
Either way, I'm stuck paying for this. We can't all have Hunter tire changing equipment in our house. Just one of those things...where you can't monitor and have complete control of your stuff in someone else's hands.
BTW...thanks for the link!
