Default Need new rear brakes

Hey all, i don't see much of a choice in aftermarket brake pads for the IS350... Mine is in dire need of new rear pads... So far the only place locally that can even get them is Lexus... I'm not forking over the $$$ they want for the rear brakes.
Thanks in advance.

Wow, the car hasn't been out that long and you need new pads? How many miles you got?

Just curious - how much did they want to replace the pads?

Dayum. This is what I would do. Each brake pad has an identifying number that connotes their pad shape/dimensions. Try to find out what that is as I would be willing to wager that it is shape that is at least not uncommon (bad sentence structure, I know). Once you get that number, you can call the manufacturers up and ask them if they make a compatible pad.

What's the dealership asking for if you don't mind?

Perhaps the pads are defective. That would be covered under warranty.

If you are a so called mechanic. Buy the brake pads from the lexus dealer, they are probably no more then $80. And go change them yourself?? I dont see a problem here.

I was quoted over 200 dollars "list" on the pads. And since they didn't have my tax id on file, nor an account with their parts department, they wouldn't give me jobber pricing. I have to get my butt down there to talk to them in person, with my tax id. That and they had to order the pads, with no ETA... My origional question was AFTERMARKET pads. I'd like to upgrade if i could, but right now that seems like a no go.

And BTW, i am a diesel tech, so don't call the bs on the "so called" mechanic.

$200 for a set of rear brake pads? Thats extremely expensive. Even MB or BMW pads arent that much. I highly doubt they are that much.

If you want I can purchase the pads for you tax free plus 20% off of dealers listing price.
